Check the air quality in your area every day!
Here in Korea, we can check the quality of the air in our living area through the weather forecast on our mobile phones. These days in Chuncheon, we are facing bad air quality, which will cause some diseases. The air quality is changing from day to day, decreasing and increasing.
Health depends significantly on clean air. The World Health Organization estimates that each year, air pollution exposure still results in millions of deaths and the loss of healthy years of life. According to recent estimates, the impact of disease caused by air pollution is now comparable to that of other significant global health concerns, including poor diet and cigarette use. A historic resolution on air quality and health was adopted by the World Health Assembly in 2015, which acknowledged air pollution as a risk factor for noncommunicable diseases such as ischemic heart disease, stroke, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, asthma, and cancer, as well as the financial toll they impose. And also, the World Health Organization’s air quality guidelines (AQG) serve as a global target for national, regional, and city governments to work towards improving their citizens health by reducing air pollution.
So, please wear a mask when you're going out to prevent inhaling the bad air. If you are now fed up with wearing a mask every day, please check your weather forecast on your mobile, and if the air quality index is good and healthy, you may go out without a mask. But when the weather forecast says it is unhealthy, please do wear a mask. Because Korean weather forecasters often make the most accurate forecasts!
